30 degree valve seat cutter
When I leave an engine, knowing I'm not going to start it for a while, I always squirt oil in the plug hole and close the valves.
Sadly not all people do this.
I need to purchase a valve seat cutter for doing BSA F & G engines; trouble is most kits don't seem to have a 30 degree cutter.

Thank you, I'll investigate Neway tools, yes certainly 30 degree seat as advised in the manual and when I put angle measure on a new valve.
I note cutter diameter needs to be just over 30mm.
Will let you know how I get on.

30 degree (31) cutter and valve from my set .
45 (46) degree cutter
45 and 30 degree valves
Three angle valve valve seats.
The valve seat will often involve three angles. Starting with 30 degrees, then 45 degrees , the contact area, then 60 degrees under the contact area.

Thank you,
If I cannot purchase a valve seat cutter
I may have to book a day off work and take my cylinder barrels to an Engine Recon. Co. Then after several weeks collect.
Sadly Engine Reconditioners do not open on the weekends!
Plus I Cannot find any UK distributors for Neway.
I started this job in May, (or was it earlier????) and have not made much progress due to work, house chores, gardening, motor car maintenance, plus a few short holidays!
Neway used to be distributed…
Neway used to be distributed in the UK by Sykes Pickavant , but it appears no longer so. Sealey appears to offer similar kits. Rather than go to a general engine reconditioner it may be worth seeking out a vintage motorcycle engine shop.

I bought a second hand Pikavant valve cutter set off the internet, very pleased with it.
Just had a test go at one of the exhaust seats. Very pleased, a few more turns as there is a grey spot, then lap in with paste.
The Neway set sold under a B…
The Neway set sold under a B&S number contained 45 and 30 degree cutters as the old 5 Hp 13series side valve lumps had a 30 degree inlet, so older BS dealers have probably got one. I presume that you know for certain that those valves are 30 degrees ?
