Just curious about this old product. Have anyone got one of these Penn's sharpening stones in their tool collection? Are these any good and what other vintage brands are there to keep the cylinder blades sharp? Thanks

I must admit I thought it was
I must admit I thought it was too good to be true! It's a lovely period item to have though in my collection.
Any other period lawn mower blade sharpener to be aware of out of interest?
From the trade point of view
From the trade point of view there is only one way to sharpen a cylinder on a mower and that is to have the cylinder ground via a cylinder grinder. With the old fashioned grinders the cylinder has to be removed but present day grinders will grind in situ.
Now for The Penns which is from the USA and are sold quite regularly on that well known web site,Well allowing for what I have already said you can form your own views.
The caveat
Some years ago while on my many travels with my best buddy Jim Ricci in the back waters of Pennsylvania we came across this run down workshop with an elder who was Amish, who was sharpening a lawn mower cylinder each blade at a time with a angle grinder! Waste of time you would think!
When the mower was put back together it cut perfectly and I've never forgotten it!
